BADGER GIRLS STATE

LOCAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT

 

 

You will be participating in city, county and state government based on Wisconsin laws.  All citizens will take part in all three levels of government since you live in a city and a county in American Legion Auxiliary Badger Girls State.  The government and its laws will be yours.  You are eligible to be a candidate for only one of the offices on one of those levels of government.

 

                         Girls State is divided into seven counties and fifteen cities:

Fairchild Elm and Hawthorn Glen
Garner Hickory and Maple
Hoard Oakwood and Pine Grove
Wilder Spruce and Sycamore
Wright Tamarack and Willow Springs

Mayor County Executive Governor - partisan
4 Alderman -
1 from each District
County Clerk Lt. Governor - partisan
City Clerk County Treasurer Secretary of State - partisan
City Treasurer Sheriff State Treasurer - partisan
City Attorney Surveyor Attorney General - partisan
4 Members of Board of Education Coroner Senators - partisan (14 Senatorial Districts)
Note: ALABGS cities use the Mayor-Council form of organization. The Mayor will appoint additional officials. Clerk of Courts
Representatives - partisan
(28 Assembly Districts)
District Attorney State Superindent of Public Instruction (non-partisan)
Register of Deeds Supreme Court Justice (non- partisan)
Circuit Judge ( non-partisan, but will be elected with other county officials)  
County Board of Supervisors (non-partisan)
A total of 16 Supervisors serve as the governing body for each county.
Supervisors elected at large in county elections.
